Custom Bobbleheads, the Perfect Comical Giveaway!

National Bobblehead Day is observed annually on January 7. This day celebrates the head bobbing figurines we all know and love.

EverythingBranded takes a closer look at how this day came to be, as well as our own custom bobbleheads, perfect for that comical giveaway. Bobbleheads come in different shapes and sizes. However, none are more popular than those that depict athletes, professional sports teams, mascots, cartoon characters, and celebrities. On November 18, 2014, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum was announced.  The museum will open in 2016 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and will house the world’s largest collection of bobbleheads, a hall of fame section for the best bobbleheads, as well as many exhibits related to the history and making of bobbleheads, and much more. The History of Bobbleheads These classic collectibles are thought to date back at least 150 years.

The earliest known reference to similar toys is from the 1842 short story The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol, which described a character as having a neck which was "like the neck of plaster cats which wag their heads". Later, larger ceramic figures of animals, ranging in size from about 6 to 8 inches, were produced in Germany.

These toys had spring-connected heads, and were called "nodders" or "bobbers" based on the way that their heads would bob on their bodies. In the 1920s, a New York Knicks basketball player bobblehead was produced, and this created a renewed interest in the collectible. However, by the 1930s, interest had again waned, and from that point until the 1950s they were only produced in very limited numbers as novelty items. After 2000, new variations of the dolls were also produced - including the mini-bobblehead, bobble computer sitters, bobblehead banks, and even bobblehead air fresheners. custom bobbleheads also became possible and several companies began to offer this service. Many current bobblehead dolls closely resemble their real-life counterparts, including matching tattoos, hair styles, headbands, and even scars.
